Trinidad 1991/2012 – DT cask #2467

DT

The Rum: Trinidad Single Cask 2467 20 yo – 54,8 abv

Origin: Trinidad – The Trinidad Rum Distillery

Distilled: 1991 – column still

Bottled: 2012, by Duncan Taylor. 298 bottles only

Nose: soft and pleasant nose with vanilla – nice influence of the American oak. Soft spices, bananabread, toasted bread and  soft brown sugar

Taste: rather sweet and alcoholic with dried fruits and fruit candy. Also some almonds and bitter chocolate

Finish: more bitter now, with more oak. Dry and peppery; medium long.

Our score : *** excellent start with the nose, typical quality rum;  but the finish has let me down a bit. The wood becomes to overpowering and camouflages the sweetness of the rum.
