Leblon
The Cachaça: Leblon – 40 abv
Origin: Patos de Minas – Minas Gerais – Brazil
Distilled: not indicated
Bottled: October 2010
Nose: The first impression is a short attack of vanilla, making slowly room for sweet candy and fine must. After a few minutes also a hint of white pepper. In general a rather sophisticated and fruity nose. .
Taste: Very fresh and fruity, with smooth fresh sugarcane juice. Again some vanilla and white pepper; but the whole lacks a bit of complexity.
Finish: The fresh sugarcane juice evolves towards a subtle, gentle bitterness. A very fresh and vivid finish, that might be just a bit too short.
Our Score: 16/20
Remarks: The Leblon distillery nowadays is in French hands, and that shows. After distillation in pot stills, the spirit is put to mature (between one and three months) in old cognac casks
